When a massive cargo ship called the Dali lost power in the Port of Baltimore, crews scrambled to control the ship. They sent out a mayday signal to evacuate The Baltimore Francis Scott Key Bridge lying ahead, but it was too late. In less than a minute, the midsection of the 1.6-mile-long truss bridge plunged into the cold river below. None of the ship’s crew members were injured. Six construction workers are believed to have fallen from the bridge. The bodies of two of the victims have been recovered, while four remain missing and are presumed dead.
