
Born in Asheville, North Carolina and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Jermaine Dupri is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, record executive, entrepreneur, and DJ. After starting his music career as a dancer for the hip-hop group Whodini, he achieved major success by launching his influential record label, So So Def Recordings, in 1993. Dupri signed and fostered the careers of iconic acts like Kris Kross, Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, and Bow Wow.
